Attorney William Serangeli Retires from Dickinson Bradshaw

Congratulations to William Serangeli on his retirement from Dickinson, Bradshaw, Fowler & Hagen, P.C.  

With a remarkable legal career spanning across five decades, Bill focused his practice on representing business clients, including real estate companies, banks, and insurance companies, in commercial litigation and insurance defense matters. He served as general counsel for various Boards of Realtors® and regularly lectured on legal topics to bar associations and trade organizations on professional compliance issues and ethics.

“I first met Bill 20 years ago, before he joined Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen, when he and I represented co-defendants in a jury trial,” said Mollie Pawlosky, Shareholder Attorney and President of the Board of Directors of Dickinson Bradshaw. “That was when I saw firsthand not just the skill with which he practiced, but also how he revered the practice of law, a reverence and respect that he exemplified for all 50 years of his practice.” 

Bill earned a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in 1971 and his Juris Doctorate with honors from Drake University Law School in 1975. He began practicing law at Williams, Hart, Lavorato & Kirtley in West Des Moines. In 1978, he joined Smith, Schneider & Stiles which became Schneider, Stiles, Serangeli & Mountsier. In 2011, after practicing there for more than 33 years, Bill was among seven attorneys who joined the Dickinson firm in downtown Des Moines. Dickinson later merged with the Bradshaw firm to create Dickinson Bradshaw in 2024.

Among the milestones in his career, Bill received an AV Preeminent Peer Review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards. He was also selected for inclusion in the 2015-2021 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of General Commercial Litigation, and he was honored for inclusion annually since 2013 in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Land Use & Zoning Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, and Real Estate Law. In 2019, Bill was named "Lawyer of the Year" in Des Moines for his work in Real Estate Litigation by Best Lawyers.
