2018 Summer Associates

Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen, P.C. is proud to announce our 2018 Summer Associates, Andrea Rastelli and Dana Van Gent. 

 Andrea Rastelli

Andrea is currently attending the University of Iowa Law School where she will graduate with the class of 2019.  Her practice will be focused on Transactional law with an interest in data privacy and cybersecurity.  

"I initially decided to attend law school after my experience working in various corporations. I quickly realized that I needed a law degree to work on some of the projects I was most interested. I chose law as a career because I enjoy the constant researching and learning this career demands."

"My favorite part about living in Iowa is the people. I have lived in a few places in my life, but I have never lived in a state with such kind and genuine people. I also really enjoy summers in Iowa because I can partake in the many activities that are happening all the time."

Dana Van Gent

Dana is currently attending Drake Law School where she will graduate with the class of 2019.  Her practice will be focused on Transactional law with an interest in working with small businesses and non-profit organizations. 

"I was born and raised in Iowa, so I will always have a soft spot for Iowa and my fellow Iowans. My favorite thing about Iowa is its summer evenings, especially when the sun starts to set and the fireflies hover just above the fields. I used to love this time of day as a farm kid, and I still do!"

"I love reading and writing and enjoy critical problem solving, so the legal profession seemed like the perfect way to combine those skills and talents. Also, I worked as a grant writer for a nonprofit organization in Pella, Iowa for a short while after receiving my undergraduate degree, and in that position, I often worked and corresponded with charitable foundations’ legal teams. The work that the attorneys were completing for the foundations appealed to me, and it seemed like a rewarding field in which I could find success—so I gave it a shot!"

Dickinson's Summer Associate Program is focused on assisting law students in advancing their careers through a variety of educational and professional experiences.  Summer Associates will learn the culture of practicing within a law firm while gaining exposure to the business of practicing law.  Dickinson designs its Associate Program to fit the needs and interests of each individual. If you're interested in applying for the Dickinson Summer Associates program please contact, recruiting committee chair, Ted Craig.
