Employment & Labor Law

The attorneys in Dickinson Bradshaw's Employment & Labor Law Group offer a full array of services relating to employment and labor matters, to clients in both the public and private sectors. Our Des Moines-based team serves clients across the state with expansive knowledge regarding federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, partnering with clients to help avoid labor and employment claims, comply with regulations, and navigate employment and labor disputes from wrongful termination to occupational safety and health.

Our attorneys have represented clients in both state and federal courts in Iowa and elsewhere, as well as before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, State and Local Civil Rights Commissions, and Iowa Workforce Development. Attorneys in the practice area have handled claims and suits arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, and the NLRA.

In addition to private and public sector employers, we represent a number of trade associations with specific interests in labor and employment issues, including Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa. Our goal is to help our clients minimize the risk of legal liability by following federal labor laws while accomplishing their important business objectives.

Thought Capital Leaders

With a team of attorneys offering an unparalleled depth and breadth of experience, we frequently contribute materials and make presentations to professional associations and employers on a wide range of employment and labor law topics. These topics include anything from employment discrimination law to equal employment opportunity law.

Many of our employment and labor law attorneys are members of the Society for Human Resource Management and other professional and employer trade associations. We maintain the Iowa Employer Law Blog with new and relevant information on labor and employment law. We produce relevant news alerts for clients that focus on current legal trends and issues in employment and labor law in Iowa. We also conduct an annual employment law seminar for clients to keep them up-to-date on current legal issues related to the management of their human resources.
