Longtime Dickinson Attorneys Joan Fletcher and Jeff Krausman Retire

Bidding Farewell to Retiring Shareholder Attorneys Joan Fletcher and Jeff Krausman

On December 31, 2020, Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen P.C. gave a fond farewell to Shareholder Attorneys Joan Fletcher and Jeff Krausman as they retired from the firm. We are thankful for all of their work representing clients with a high level of excellence.

Joan Fletcher

Joan’s practice focused on litigation and employment, with experience representing clients in the state and federal court system. Her primary areas of practice included complex commercial litigation, employment litigation that included legal issues involving non-compete and trade secret litigation, and OSHA defense and consultation. 

Her experience involved a wide variety of business sectors, including but not limited to:

  • agricultural services 
  • construction
  • food processors, manufacturers, and retailers
  • governmental entities
  • heating and cooling
  • industrial biosciences
  • manufacturing facilities
  • pipeline
  • renewable energy
  • transportation and delivery

Prior to joining Dickinson law in 2002, Joan was a Partner Attorney at Nyemaster Goode for 12 years. Among her many accolades, she was selected for the following:

  • Inclusion in the 2015-2021 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Litigation – Labor & Employment
  • Inclusion in the 2009-2015 editions of Great Plains Super Lawyers in the area of Business Litigation
  • An AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2004

Joan was a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America™ and a member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association and the Defense Research Institute. She also served as General Counsel and a member of the Board of Directors for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa from 2009 through 2020.

Jeff Krausman

Jeff began his law career at the Iowa Public Relations Board (PERB), which administers the Iowa law governing employment relations and collective bargaining in the public sector. In 1977 he entered private practice, focusing primarily on labor and employment issues.

His experience includes work as a negotiator at the bargaining table, as an advocate in grievance disputes, and as a litigator of employment-related matters in both state and federal courts. He expertise included but was not limited to:

  • Preventive Counseling
  • Employment Litigation
  • Labor Law
  • Employee Use of Social Media
  • Education Law
  • Employment & Labor Law
  • Litigation & Trial Law
  • Mediation & Arbitration
  • Municipal Law

Jeff was a frequent speaker at Iowa Bar Association and Iowa School Board Association programs. He was selected for inclusion in the 2009-2021 editions of The Best Lawyers in America, and in the 2010-2020 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Best Lawyers for Business in the area of Labor & Employment Law.

He was a member of the National Council of School Board Attorneys, the Iowa Council of School Board Attorneys, and the American Academy of ADR Attorneys. Jeff also served as the President of the Council of School Attorneys and was the President of the Board of Directors of Children and Families of Iowa.
