Secretary Perdue Extends Deadline for Market Facilitation Program Applications
Posted on 01/09/2019 at 09:35 AM by Emily Staudacher
On Tuesday, January 8, Secretary Perdue tweeted that the deadline for Market Facilitation Program applications will be extended for a period of time equal to the number of business days that Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices were closed due to the shutdown.
This announcement will provide relief to farmers who did not have their applications completed prior to December 28, 2018 when FSA offices closed. However, it is not expected that the May 1, 2019 deadline for certifying 2018 production will be extended. Farmers who have already applied for the program and certified their 2018 production will continue to receive payments as scheduled, according to USDA Under Secretary Bill Northey.
