New Website Announced for Iowa Workforce Development & New Link for Notice of Unemployment Insurance for Employers

On October 4, 2023, the Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) revealed a new website at a new URL. The website boasts a new structure that is more user friendly. The old website was immediately replaced and is no longer available.
Along with IWD’s new website also comes a new link for the Employer Notice to Employees of the Availability of Unemployment Compensation FORM that employers are required to provide to all departing employees and to those whose hours of work are reduced.
As a reminder, the U.S. Department of Labor’s interpretation of Unemployment Insurance Program Letter No. 13-30 requires states who received federal pandemic funds to ensure that employers within the state provide notice of availability of unemployment insurance. IWD adopted an emergency rule on July 14, 2020, to enforce this mandate and the rule is still in effect. See this previous Employer Law Blog post for more information.
Employers are to provide the employer notice to employees of the availability of unemployment compensation FORM to every departing employee regardless of the reason for separation. This includes any employee who resigns, retires, is discharged, is laid off, or has had their work hours substantially reduced.
