Summer Associates
Dickinson, Bradshaw, Fowler & Hagen, P.C. seeks summer associates who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership in and service to their communities, and dedication to excellence in the legal profession. Our goal is to help you evaluate your career interests and shape your future as knowledgeable, well-rounded attorneys. Dickinson Bradshaw’s Summer Program provides an opportunity for each summer associate to develop a network of support and encouragement that will last throughout their legal careers.
The Summer Associate program is designed to provide a wide range of challenging legal assignments by providing the hands-on experience that will help you to become better students and better attorneys. Summer associates are commonly given opportunities for legal research projects, writing, attending hearings, client meetings, and assisting with depositions. Through both formal and informal feedback, our attorneys take an active interest in the professional development of our summer associates.
Our considerations in selecting summer associates are similar to those we use to hire other associates. Our Hiring Committee, which is composed of partners and associates, is primarily responsible for hiring new law school graduates, as well as associates for our Summer Program. Applicants will generally be interviewed by members of the Committee, as well as by other lawyers of the firm. New employees are integrated into the firm through our extensive orientation, training and mentorship programs.
Dickinson Bradshaw annually recruits at Drake University and the University of Iowa each fall through the on-campus interview process. While we typically hire second year law students, we do occasionally consider first year students with exceptional law school achievement. In addition, we encourage direct submissions from students from other law schools and geographic locations for our program.
